Now you could sleep in a place where once George Washington might have stayed. You could also eat here, cook here, lounge here and hang out here — in the heart of Old Town Alexandria in Virginia, where a house that once belonged to the first U.S. president is available to rent.

According to wtop.com, “The George of Old Town is a 6000-square-foot townhouse on Cameron Street, and it is available on Airbnb. It has been renovated with modernization and improvements by owners Steven and Martha Peterson, whose business involves buying distressed properties, renovating them and flipping them. Before the Petersons purchased the property, it had been divided into individual apartments.”
Martha Peterson in a statement said, “This is a special place with beautiful, historic architecture and a prime location. We knew from the first day that we saw it that it needed a lot of work but we were not going to be able to flip it. This is one of those unique properties that we just wanted to hold on to.”
As per wtop.com, “The house has eight bedroom suites named for each president that hailed from Virginia. Can you name all of them? (George Washington, James Monroe, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson). Each suite has its own modern bath, and many rooms have sitting rooms and their own fireplaces, as well. The house can sleep up to 20 guests and may be rented as individual rooms or the full townhouse. In addition, each stay includes four free tickets to George Washington’s Mount Vernon.”
