40th Annual StepALIVE! Walkathon Held on Sunday

The 40th Annual StepALIVE!  Walkathon is Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. The 5-mile group walk through Old Town Alexandria will start and finish at the parking lot of First Christian Church located at 2723 King  Street, Alexandria, VA 22302, which is also the main office for ALIVE!. Route 1 Corridor Proposed To Get Second Early Voting Location

The Richmond Highway corridor in Fairfax County could get an additional voter satellite office if approved by the Board of Supervisors. On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors authorized a public hearing to consider the South County Government Center at 8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria as a voter satellite office for in-person early voting. Alexandria City Public Schools Students To Sit Three Feet Closer

Students at Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia will be sitting 3 feet closer to each other in classrooms after the school board reversed the superintendent’s previous decision of staying 6 feet apart. Superintendent Gregory Hutchings sent a message to families earlier this week that students will remain 6 feet apart, despite the CDC’s advice to reduce the space to 3 feet. Departmental Progressive Club Food Drive Collected Donations for Alive!, ARHA

Members of the Departmental Progressive Club held a food and gift card drive on Feb. 20 to collect non-perishable items for local families. The DPC held a similar food drive on Feb. 13, but due to difficult weather conditions, decided to extend the drive another weekend.
